i know they are supposed to be good for your lawn and they have some good luck properties but, my dogs are rolling in them and they are gross. i actually stuck a garden tool into the middle of one and it came back slimy. so yes i poked it again and this gross white thing popped out the size of a gulf ball.
so what will kill them? is there a safe way so i don't hurt my dogs? i keep my dogs inside 99% of the time and they only go out to potty. and yes i can quarrentine that part of the yard but i would rather not

Mushrooms usually grow where there’s rotting wood underground; such as the roots from a tree that has been cut down or leftover construction debris that has been buried.
Adding garden lime to the area will eventually change the Ph of the soil and the mushrooms will go away.
To temporarily kill the mushrooms, you can give each one a squirt of liquid dish soap and a splash of ‘brown’ mouthwash, such as Listerine.
mushrooms scavenge dead matter in the earth,unrotted compost ,will feed as well as wood buried in the ground,im sure there are herbicides that will control,see your garden center…but the only long term cure is to remove the food………tom

Some tractors have a rototiller attachment, try to contact the place where you bought it. It may cost you more than you expect. You can also buy a small tiller to work by hand,but for such a small garden I would just use a shovel.

The tedious method is three days after the silks appear you place 20 drops of mineral oil at the base of each ears silks, repeat every three days. If not earworm then you might try bacillus thurengensis (sp?). This is a bacteria that kills caterpillars and is harmless to anything else.

It does work without all the efforts of resodding. Also if done over a period of time it improves drainage. beach sand works just fine.
I have seen sand applied t golf course greens to condition them.
In our country, Eastern Oregon we add it in the fall shortly after the lawn goes dormant. This is assurance that we do not suffocate the lawn.

Fertilize 4 times per year. Early Spring, Late Spring, early summer,early fall. In the Spring Use Pre-Emergent crabgrass control as well as a hi nitrogen content. In late Spring use A fertilizer with weed control with a number like 28-4-11. In summer use 10-10-10 & insect control. In the fall use 32-0-0. Aerate as often as possible and water whenever you can. Also set your lawnmower up to cut 3 inches and leave the clippings down. In two years you will have the lawn you want. Good luck.
