You can start it to see if it runs, but don't run it long without a blade. It may overspeed but I would be more concerned about the crankshaft balance provided by the blade. The blade acts as a harmonic balancer when it is installed.
it seems to me that the VERY first things that would be made would be the most simple. a small blade for instance; a knife. possibly an arrowhead; simple tools for hunting/preparing food. tools of war, like the sword you mentioned, would be made later
I am Asian and I use real rice from 50 lb. bag I buy once a month from Asian store. I have never met an Asian who uses instant rice (my American mother-in-law had it in her cupboard and I tried it once and I have to say I will never, ever do that again, gosh it was bad!) so I believe you are talking of my kind of rice, right? It is not bad to rinse it too much till the water is clear, if that is what you prefer. This is how I rinse my rice. I put the rice in the pot I intend to cook it in and then I fill up the pot with water. I swoosh the rice around a couple of times with my fingers and then I let the whole pot stand for five seconds until the water in the pot calms down. When the water is calm I know that all the rice has settled down too. Then I start pouring the water out of the pot by just tilting it to one side and let water trickle down slowly. Don't try to get all the water out by tilting the pot more. It is fine if you have some of the original water left in there. Just add more water if you want to rinse it again. Repeat the swooshing and pouring until you are happy with the clearness of your water. Personally I rinse my rice twice most of the time, thrice if the water is too cloudy. Not that the cloudiness is bad, it is just starch from the rice and it won't hurt you.

Hi:
I am a landscaper and designer. I have had my own business for 8 years. Knowledge and passion are two things that are required for a successful business. My first question to you is, have you mowed your own lawn before? If you haven't, I would start there and learn the different settings of a lawn mower. You have to know your cold weather and warm weather grass types. Bermuda is a warm weather grass and doesn't have to be mowed as much as Fescue.
Before starting any type of business, you must have the knowledge to present yourself to potential clients. Unless you have access to a truck to haul your materials around, you will have to stay in your neighborhood. This could be a good start for you. Learn how to use a blower and a trimmer. These are other tools you will need. Besides gas, you will periodically have to put some oil in the mower. Practice on some lawns before you even begin to approach customers.
You will be in a competitive field, so get some experience and then show people what you can do. I will link you to the site map of my website. There are articles, tips and techniques that may help you get started. The site map has everything that is on the website. Good luck to you and your friend, and have a great day!

If you have a local Tractor Supply near your home, or any place that carries horse supplies and equipment, you should probably find either a glycerin soap or some sort of leather specific cleaner. Or you can go to someplace online like http://www.doversaddlery.com or http://www.statelinetack.com, or any horse and tack supply shop (there are many).
For the blacks and browns, you can go to your grocery store and pick up some Murphy's Oil Soap and use that on the darker leathers. I wouldn't recommend this on the suede (the fuzzy leather). They make suede specific cleaner that you can use for that.
The lighter leathers (light tan, white, pink) Lexol makes a leather cleaner and conditioner that is specific to the lighter leathers (normal ones will darken the leather, make light tan into a dark tan, white into an off white, pink I have not a clue what it would do to it).
Leather conditioner or Neats Foot Oil Compound oils and conditions the leather, makes it water proof, keeps or makes it more flexible, and prevents cracks in the leather. After leather gets wet you should oil it. To oil it, rub in a layer of oil or leather conditioner using a soft cloth, let it dry some place warm (doing this outside on a sunny day will naturally warm the leather, or by a fire place or a heater, but don't put the leather ON the heater), and repeat until it will accept no more oil (looks wet even after it should have dried). Wipe off the excess oil. If you do this once or twice a month, depending on how much abuse the leather has had it shouldn't usually take more than one or two applications. The more abused the leather has been, the more attention it will take.
Normal leather cleaners, oils, and glyceride based soap doesn't bother most people (I have really sensitive skin, and my hands usually feel BETTER after cleaning a saddle or two) so they shouldn't bother your health. As for doing this at home, I suggest either outside, in your kitchen, or a bathroom because it can get a touch messy.
Cleaning leather works by stripping off the collected layer of gunk on top of the leather that sticks to the oils of the leather (the oil prevents the gunk and dirt from actually getting to and inside the leather) so leather cleaners strip off that oil layer. But it is imperative to put that layer back or you can permanently damage (like washing your hair, you shampoo and then condition) the leather.
Dry cleaning leather… I wouldn't suggest it personally. Dry cleaning involves chemicals, and I don't think that I would want to put my leathers through some one else's care and an unknown chemical process.
I know that dyeing leather is done during the leather processing phase, when it is the most "open" to receive dyes before it's fully processed. You can purchase leather enhancers and outer dies, but depending on the quality you might have to redo this after cleaning. Look online for a professional leather restorer and get into contact with them about what options you have for the pink jacket.

Well, Swiffers or equivalent products are cool. They use cloths with an electrostatic charge to attract dirt and hairs and stuff. There are different brands, like Pledge or Clorox, I think. Some are wet, some are dry, and some are dry but then spray liquid so they're wet. You could probably order one and get it shipped for not too much because they're lightweight and fold up in the box they're sold in.
There are some vacuums especially for tile or sealed hardwood, like the Hoover Floor Mate (I remember the name because of the commercial over here with the guy using the Floor Mate after a kangaroo hops all over it with muddy feet and he says, "I can clean that floor, mate!" Anyway.) Swiffer now has a Sweep-n-Vac that has a cloth and a vacuum. But try the Swiffer-style products first because they go fast and don't suck energy and all you hear is the swish-swish of the floor getting clean. Very satisfying.
well I think you should dig out the old stuff that is coming back and I would dig at least 6 inches and make sure you dig up all the old roots.

Cleaning sucks. But the outcome is so rewarding. I love having nice big empty spaces and clean floors.
you should take everything out first. rake and level the ground , add fertilizer to soil then plant the bluegrass
a neutral cleaner is a gentle soap that won't remove the adhering agent. Don't scrup them, just lightly wash in your fingers. Rinse in cold water and let dry.
Yup, trot your lil ole self down to wally world and get some Weed n' Feed. Use the SWAG theory ( sophisticated wild as* guess ) to measure how many square feet you have to cover to ensure you get enough. I use it every spring on my lawn , but I see no reason you can't use it now , but check on the bag to make sure it isn't too late in the year, cause heck , who knows I could misinform you.
